Emergency Roof Repair FAQs

How quickly can you respond to a roof emergency?

For genuine emergencies (active leaks during rain, storm damage with exposed roof space, fallen trees), we aim for 2-4 hour response during business hours. Call before 10am and we're usually there same day. After hours and weekends, call our emergency line—we'll either attend immediately for critical situations or first thing next morning. We always prioritise by urgency: active water damage > exposed structure > potential future damage.

What counts as a genuine roof emergency?

True emergencies: 1) Active water coming through your ceiling during rain, 2) Storm has removed sections of roof leaving structure exposed, 3) Tree or large branch fallen onto roof, 4) Fire damage requiring weatherproofing, 5) Large holes in roof from any cause. Non-emergencies (can wait 24-48 hours): single broken tile not leaking, minor ridge capping damage, guttering issues, cosmetic damage. We'll always try to help but triage based on urgency.

What should I do while waiting for you?

First, stay safe—don't climb on the roof yourself. If water is coming through: place buckets to catch drips, move furniture and valuables away from wet areas, turn off electricity in affected areas if water is near outlets. If a tree has fallen: evacuate the area under damage, don't try to move the tree. Take photos/video for insurance if safe to do so. Call your insurance company to lodge a claim.

What do you do during an emergency callout?

Our goal is to stop further damage immediately. For active leaks: we identify entry point, apply temporary weatherproofing (tarps, sealant, emergency patching). For storm damage: secure loose materials, tarp exposed areas, make the roof watertight. For fallen trees: if safe, remove debris from roof, assess structural damage, tarp any openings. We then schedule permanent repairs for when conditions allow proper work.

How much does emergency repair cost?

Emergency callouts involve a callout fee plus materials and time for the temporary fix. The callout fee is then credited toward permanent repairs if you proceed with us (most people do). We're upfront about costs—you'll know what you're paying before we start work. For insurance claims, we provide full documentation and can work directly with your insurer.

Does insurance cover emergency roof repairs?

Usually yes—home insurance typically covers sudden and accidental damage from storms, fallen trees, hail, and similar events. We provide full documentation: photos before/after, written scope of damage, itemised invoice for repairs. We can liaise directly with your insurer if needed. Important: document the damage with photos before we start, and lodge your claim promptly.

Do you work in heavy rain and storms?

For immediate tarping and weatherproofing, yes—that's often when you need us most. We have safety equipment for wet conditions. However, we won't risk lives: lightning, extreme winds, or unstable structures mean we wait until safe. For permanent repairs (tile work, coating, etc.), we need dry conditions. We'll do what's safely possible immediately, then schedule proper repairs when weather allows.

What if the damage is major—can you handle full repairs?

Yes. Emergency response is just the first step. Once the immediate crisis is handled, we assess full scope of damage and quote permanent repairs. For major storm damage, we can coordinate with your insurance assessor, provide detailed quotes, and carry out full restoration—from replacing sections of roof to complete re-roofing if needed. We handle it all, one point of contact.
